David Burda is editorial director of Better Thinking for Better Health, McKesson Corp.’s online thought leadership forum for healthcare industry leaders, executives and policymakers. Better Thinking for Better Health is the online vehicle for industry leaders to get connected, get engaged and, as a community, influence the direction of the healthcare delivery system.
Burda, 52, joined the staff of MSP Communications in November 2012 after a 25-year stint at Modern Healthcare, the industry’s leading healthcare business publication. He served as editor of Modern Healthcare from November 2001 through October 2012, transforming the print-centric title to a multiplatform brand that now includes a weekly print edition, four daily e-newsletters, two websites and a variety of multimedia offerings such as video, webinars, podcasts, events, virtual conferences and electronic trade show dailies. During Burda’s tenure as editor of Modern Healthcare, the publication grew both editorially and financially, receiving record numbers of editorial awards and becoming one of Crain Communication’s most financially successful titles.
Prior to joining Modern Healthcare in 1987, Burda held a number of editorial positions at titles published by the American Hospital Association and the American Medical Record Association, now known as the American Health Information Management Association.
Burda is a recognized healthcare industry figure, journalist, thought leader and public speaker. He has a Master of Arts degree in Journalism from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Political Science minor from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill.
Burda currently resides in Wheaton, Ill., with his wife of 29 years, Jeanne, and their three children, Alexandra, Benjamin and Jefferson.
